Leger Clinic (part of Medichecks) provides expert care for men with testosterone deficiency, also known as low testosterone.
Here’s what to expect at each stage of your journey - from testing through to treatment and follow-up.
1. Check your testosterone levels
Before you can be considered for treatment, you’ll need to confirm low testosterone with two blood tests taken on different mornings.
You can:
Order these tests directly through Medichecks.
Or, if you already have results, the Leger team will review them to check they meet the clinical requirements.
Once your results are available, you’ll receive guidance on what they mean and whether you may benefit from a medical consultation.
2. Book your first consultation
If your results show consistently low testosterone, you’ll be invited to book a consultation with a Leger clinician.
During this appointment (held remotely by video), a doctor or nurse practitioner will:
Discuss your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle.
Review your test results in detail.
Explain the potential benefits and risks of treatment.
Outline the treatment options available.
You’ll also need to provide proof of identity and address, as testosterone is a controlled medicine under UK law.
3. Start your treatment plan
If treatment is appropriate, your clinician will prescribe a personalised testosterone replacement plan.
This could include testosterone injections, gels, or other formulations based on your needs and preferences.
You’ll receive clear instructions on how to start your treatment safely and what to expect in the first few weeks.
4. Ongoing monitoring and support
TRT requires regular follow-up to make sure it’s working effectively and safely.
Leger will arrange repeat blood tests to monitor:
Testosterone levels
Red blood cell count
Prostate health (if relevant)
Liver function and other key markers
You’ll also have periodic reviews with your clinician to adjust your treatment if needed.
Between appointments, you’ll have access to Leger’s Patient Support team for advice and to answer any questions.
5. Transparency and quality of care
Leger Clinic is:
Regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and rated “Outstanding”.
Led by Dr Doug Savage, a GP specialising in men’s hormone health.
Focused on safe, evidence-based treatment and clear communication at every step.
As part of Medichecks, Leger combines trusted hormone testing with specialist medical care - giving you a complete, joined-up service from diagnosis to ongoing management.
