We no longer include creatine kinase (CK) in our tests and removed the CK marker from our tests on the 17th of April 2023. We made this decision as creatine kinase can be affected by a wide range of lifestyle factors including exercise and diet. Minor illnesses such as flu can cause raised levels, as can minor injuries and because of this it is common for high levels to be found, and is very rare for these to have a significant underlying cause. Abnormal creatine kinase results may result in unnecessary GP appointments.
