Exposing a blood sample to high temperatures can affect the stability of the sample.
If you must take your sample during a heatwave we advise that, if possible, samples are to be taken to a post office rather than placed in a post box.
If this is not possible, check your local postal collection times and keep your sample in a dark and cool environment until it is time to post it. We recommend posting as close to your local post-box collection time as possible.
Our laboratories will inform us if your sample has been affected by the weather and we can arrange a repeat test if necessary.
If you have any concerns please contact our customer care team who will be happy to advise further.
