I have sent off my sample but I’m not sure that the sample will be sufficient. What shall I do?

If you have already returned your sample and are concerned that it may not contain enough blood, please be assured that the laboratory will assess whether the volume is sufficient for testing.

For most finger-prick blood tests, the collection tube should ideally be filled to the second marked line. However, if the tube is more than half full, the laboratory may still be able to process the sample successfully.

If there is insufficient blood to complete all the requested tests, we will arrange a replacement test for any markers that could not be analysed.

There is no need to take any action while your sample is being assessed. We will contact you if a replacement is required and guide you through the next steps.
